Package Criteria

SA Tourism obviously cannot promote every holiday package offered by the industry – and have therefore developed a set of criteria by which to select those packages which we feel will be best suited to the emerging travel market. Our aim is to make travel EASY to do for a new holiday traveler.

Duration: Should not exceed 7 days of holiday – the objective is to get people to take more short breaks, more often

Should be inclusive:
· Transport option – how to get there
· Accommodation – clear details. ONLY GRADED ACCOMMODATION WILL BE ACCEPTED
· Meals (breakfast and/or dinner)
· At least one excursion/day tour or added value element

Pricing:
Should be affordable to a person earning between R5000 and R10000 per month (therefore the most expensive package should not be more than R3500.
Inclusive pricing options to be considered depending on the package
· Price per person (single)
· Price for a couple (sharing)
· Price for a family (2 adults, 2 kids)

SADC: Sho’t Left packages are for SA citizens and residents and must also be valid for tourists from neighbouring SADC countries (Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.)

Location: SA Tourism is looking for packages to lesser visited provinces – and preference will be given to these submissions.

Payment: Should detail payment options – how and when the person would be required to pay. It should also be noted that special consideration must be given to BEE companies and SMME operators.

Eight Package Categories (relevant to your provincial product offering)

Holiday packages should be developed in one of the following categories for promotion:
· Cultural Discoveries
· Country Meanders
· Bush Retreats
· Coastal Getaways
· Mountain Escapes
· City Breaks
· Sport, Adventure & Events
· Entertainment & Nightlife
